Jill went to the "DR hair salon" at church today!

Greetings Community of Grace Family - 

Today was an amazing day with many adventures where we saw the Holy Spirit guiding and working through each of us. In the early afternoon, I was approached by a beautiful young girl who befriended me. She guided me to a place where I could sit down. This was welcoming following many sporting activities with the children. I had pointed to her pretty braids, which she then in turn decided I needed some myself. Eventually it turned into a little beauty salon for a few of us.. I must admit, the tight braids did hurt a little bit, but overall, I was grateful to have this time with her. I love how the children are so caring and even nurturing. Although we didn’t get a chance to talk about Jesus (that will come later), we had time to bond and share God’s Love through sharing, caring and loving our “neighbors” through these special moments. 

One thing I forgot to mention is that today was a national holiday in the Dominican Republic. What does that mean for us? God’s timing was perfect as always. We had the chance to have Kids Club with a very large group of children (both Haitian and Dominican playing and laughing together). Many of these children would have otherwise been in school. Kids Club is a chance to share God's love and minister to the children about Jesus Christ. It usually entails time for crafts, songs, funny dance movements and skits. Everyone loves it, including the adults. We finished up the afternoon with a puppet show with the master puppeteers of Jill and Tim. We acted out scenes dealing with difficult times that young children go through and how Jesus is always there to help them through any situation. This was such a moving time to further share Jesus’ works even in young children, 

As Jesus stated in Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” I’m blessed to be a part of this larger mission to share the gospel.
