Coming Home

Casey, Tod, Konnor, Michelle, Anthony, Hannah, Reggie, Sara, Jordyn, Jill, Tim and Issac made it home from the DR safely on Saturday the 31st! We already miss our friends in Rincon and Jarabacoa.
We made it home from the Dominican Republic! It was a wild and wonderful week, and I am so proud of this team. I'll share a few thoughts here as I process through our week in Rincon...
"God always keeps his promises." We hear that phrase a lot in the church, and it can be hard to believe sometimes. I think that the people we serve in Haiti and the Dominican Republic have experienced broken promises in more significant ways than we can comprehend... and yet their faith is more resilient than we could imagine living here in the states. I know Pastor Zamor has experienced many people telling him they will help, and not following through. I can't imagine the difficulties he has experienced growing up in Haiti and moving his family to the Dominican Republic, as well as pastoring a congregation of Haitians trying to navigate the same thing.
It truly was a joy to keep our promise that we would return to his church, and on top of it to build their church a new roof. It was a joy to see the bathroom project finished, since we started it and funded the project in late 2024! It also touched my heart deeply to reconnect with the people in Rincon, and to have them greet me by name.

On our last day in Jarabacoa, we were able to go to this incredible waterfall and see the beauty of God's creation! Some of our team jumped in, even though the water was a little cold. Reggie did too- and he said it was pretty cold water for a Haitian to swim in!

This is Hannah's friend, Victoria! She lives in the neighborhood we serve in Rincon. It was a joy to reconnect with her this week.
